The students in my Kindergarten classroom are a creative, hard-working, curious, thoughtful, and adventurous group of children. Always eager to learn the moment they enter the classroom as they look to the daily agenda to see what the day will be and then...we are off and learning with days filled with exploration, invention, reading, creative expression, practice, and thoughtfulness. I am looking to make their learning experience even more engaging by adding learning tools for the classroom through Donors Choose Donations.

My Project

The skills we have access to and learn in Kindergarten become our foundational Life Skills. Developing social and emotional skills in such a fast paced world becomes more challenging each year. I am working to put the "garden" back in Kindergarten this year. A garden grows beauty, life, and diversity. Social and emotional development and skills are an important piece of that amazing garden that Kindergarten grows. Along with reading, expressive writing, mathematics, and STEM, social and emotional skills are a vital cornerstone for developing strong life skills. A dollhouse in the classroom as a center rotation and free choice activity provides endless possibilities for social and emotional development. It can also help children bring our new social and emotional curriculum to life as they use the dollhouse to apply the new tools and strategies they learn in tandem with what they are learning during Character Education.
