My students need a carpet to sit on during morning meeting, group times and learning centers.

Do you remember what it felt like when you were in kindergarten and you listened to your teacher read a story to you? The students in my class need a carpet large enough for the class to gather together so they can have their own personal space and learn to work together.
I currently teach 22 enthusiastic kindergarten students in a low-income inner city school in Tennessee.
Most of the students at my school receive free or reduced lunch. We serve principally African-American students. Even with all of the challenges that they face every day, the children are so excited about learning to read, write letters, numbers and show off their work!
The Fun with Phonics Seating Carpet will allow us to have a specific place to gather for our morning meeting, calendar activities, group times and learning centers. We will be able to use our new carpet for reading and math activities. The carpet has an area for the students to work on letter recognition and an area for graphing! Having this carpet will allow my students to have a comfortable place to listen and learn new experiences every day.
Kindergarten students need to learn to socialize with one another in a safe environment.
Having a carpet large enough for the entire class will allow us to do so many activities that we are not able to do at this time because we do not have an appropriate carpet. I will be able to use this new carpet with children for the remainder of my teaching career.
