This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach Kindergarten at AR Elementary School. The students at the school are non-native English speakers who come from various language homes. As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to create an environment of positive, educational, reward and exploration for them. They will be provided with instruction in English.

AR Elementary is a unique school.

It has a high population of English as a Second Language (ESL) Learners. All students receive free breakfast and lunch. We also have a partnership so families can participate in a Food Pantry once a month.

My Project

Students will use these manipulatives and games to explore hands-on concepts to master essential math skills by practicing with these games and using these manipulatives during Math Workshop. The carpet will provide the students with a clean and comfortable area to work during independent work time. The easel will be a resource used for differentiated instruction and allow the students an area to work independently. Without the help of generous donors, I will not be able to provide the resources needed for my class. Please help me to get my students the resources we need to set a positive tone their first year in an educational environment. The resources will help bridge the gap in language differences and allow the students meet educational goals this year in school.
