Kindergarten Seat Sacks

Help me give my students seat sacks to organize their school supplies, folders and books. Students were able to share the supply cubby but due to social distancing, students need a place to store their own supplies.

My Students

My students come from low income families where parents have recently gone back to work and have switched their child from remote learning to in person learning. These are kindergarteners in a general education class who learn alongside students with special needs. They were in pre-school last year for only 6 months until COVID hit. They are learning school and classroom routines all over again after being home for an entire year. I would like my students to have their own seat sacks in order to help with the new classroom environment. Due to COVID 19 - my students need to social distance and can not share supplies. It is difficult to keep each child's supplies separated so having the seat sacks will not only help with social distancing but maximize learning time. These seat sacks gives them a sense of responsibility and pride in managing their supplies. They will feel pride that they are able to organize their books and belongings in a "grown up" way.

My Project

Prior to COVID- 19, my kindergarten students (general education students and students with special needs) shared everything! (Bins, supplies glue sticks, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, scissors etc). Due to social distancing my students have to learn independence and take ownership of their own materials in an organized way. My students will learn responsibility and organizational skills when using these seat sacks. They will minimize frustration and promote a sense of calmness by working in a neat manner. They learn these organizational skills at a young age and will use for life. The seat sacks will also increase more learning time since class helpers are not able to contribute in giving out materials during these times.
