My Students
My students have eyes that are full of wonder, hands that are constantly busy, mouths that are full of questions, bodies that squirm with anticipation, and minds that are eager to learn. This is how my young kindergarten students arrive at school. They are excited to be part of the big school and to start down the halls of their formalized education path.
They enter as young children, scared and uncertain, but they leave as experienced students with both knowledge and confidence.
They know that learning is fun and eagerly wait to see what is prepared for them each day.
My Project
In science, our Kindergarten students will explore many aspects of the world around them. We start with ourselves and how our bodies work. The five senses (sight, hearing, smell, touch, and taste) work together to help us understand all this information around us.
This project will help supply our classroom with hands-on supplies that will help the students focus and explore each of the five senses in detail.
Through a variety of learning experiences like listening to the buzz of a tuning fork or a jingle of a bell, the students will focus on sounds and listening. The scents sort match-up game will let the students smell fruits and herbs. The texture blocks will let the students feel bumpy, smooth, silky, and rough. The color paddles will allow the students to explore colors, while the science viewers will let them look at animals, insects, and ocean creatures. Most of these wonderful materials will be used in small group rotations when we visit our science lab, so each child will have the time and opportunity to use each and every item. My young students are naturally curious and these science materials will be an exciting way to help open their minds to new understandings about themselves and their world.
