Kindergarten Rug

My Students

Over the past 19 years, I have taught kindergarten and first grade. My classroom is a place where students are allowed to explore and play so they can grow physically, socially, and intellectually. During our whole group time, the rug will allow students a place to practice their personal space skills.

I teach at a Title One school where many students receive free or reduced lunches.

There are approximately 700 students who attend this school, many from diverse ethnic backgrounds. All of the students who walk in the door each day are eager to learn. Many of the students have different academic and social needs.

My Project

The rug I have requested will be a central meeting place in the classroom. It will be a place for students to gather during whole group learning time. Because the rug is divided into 30 equal spots, it will allow students their own space. This is especially important for young students in kindergarten who are working on developing their own personal space.

The rug I have requested will help my students not only grow academically, but it will also help to meet their social and emotional needs.

It will help them learn about personal space, self-regulation, and self-discipline.
