My Students

Do you remember when you first discovered that you could read? It is an amazing sight to watch the students in my classroom discover that they CAN read words and sentences, even if they are Kindergartners. I want every child to leave my classroom with the confidence to read independently.

I teach Kindergarten at a low-income school.

About 80% of our students are on free and reduced lunch. Due to budget cuts, we only get $75 to spend in our classroom for the entire year! That does not cover paper and the school supplies that the families could not afford, so I have no money left to order wonderful teaching tools that can help improve their reading skills.

My Project

My students have a great desire to learn and make me proud, but they need materials that will help them with their reading skills. Reading is the foundation of our knowledge. I want to make sure that my student's foundation is as strong as possible. These reading resources will help students at all levels in my classroom. I have students that do not know letters or sounds, some that are beginning to blend 3 and 4 letter words, and some that are reading sentences and words with blends or long vowels. There is a wide range of skills. These resources will benefit all skill levels. They will help with alphabet and sound recognition, sight words, beginning sounds, reading 3 and 4 letter words, word building, word families, and so much more. The resources will help build a solid foundation for great readers.
