My Kindergarten class is full of energetic, readers. They are getting so excited to master their sight word lists and start Accelerated Reader books. This class, which is mostly boys are working hard on mastering their sight words and love reading books to the class. At this time, our computers are outdated, and the AR program is not working on them. We live in a small rural farming town, where opportunities are limited. Our school is the product of 2 smaller schools consolidating. Most of the students receive free or reduced lunches.
Up to date technology and new books are needed to pursue the AR book testing goals.
My Project
By having up to date technology and grade level books, my kids can boost their reading skills. Every word that is read increases a student's ability to read future books. Having new Chromebooks to test their comprehension on the books they are reading gives me as a teacher a better idea of what we need to focus on in class.
I want to invest in their love of reading now to encourage reading in the future.
The addition of Chromebooks and grade level books will help to foster their love of reading. Kindergartners learn by doing. They LOVE Piggie and Gerald books. So I want to encourage their love of reading.
