Kindergarten Readers Need To Read, Read, Read

My students need chair-pocket organizers to easily store their just right books and other learning materials so that they can access them quickly throughout the day.

My Students

My students are excited, ambitious, and curious about the world around them. They always have a question to ask or a story to tell. My students are a diverse group of eager kindergarteners ethnically, culturally, economically, and academically. I am a teacher at an International Baccalaureate school where students are exposed to a second language, art, music, gardening, technology, and character studies.

My students enjoy school and learning, but especially love reading.

They read for fun, for knowledge, and for learning. We spend the majority of our classroom day reading or listening to stories and I want to give my students the best possible start to the beginning of their lifelong journey of learning.

My Project

I am requesting these chair pocket organizers for each of my students to have one for his/her chair to give my students access to books all day long. They will use the chair pockets to store their books and other supplies each and ecpvery day. The Reader's Workshop method of teaching reading encourages students to read Just-Right books during Independent reading. We will use these materials to help the students become independent readers.

The donations for this project will significantly boost my students access to books at their reading levels.

Students who are strong readers in kindergarten will continue to become life-long learners and lovers of books.
