Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Teacher, I wrote this really awesome story. Can I print it?" "Sure," I reply. "Wait, that computer is not hooked up to a printer." It's frustrating when you have created something and have no easy way to "get it out of the computer!"

My kindergarten students are eager to learn.

While some are learning English, all are learning to read and write. Our school is an applied learning campus where student learning is primarily through projects and hands-on activities. We are a Title I school with a majority of the students receiving free or reduced price lunch.

My Project

I have requested an Epson color printer, ink cartridges, and a USB drive so my students can create, print and save their digital work. With these materials, my students will be able to create digital works with the computer. When the students write a story with the computer, they will be able to publish their stories. They will feel like authors when they have a published looking piece to show their family. With the flash drives, they will be able to save their work when they are not yet finished.

My students may not have access to this kind of technology at home.

I want my students, even as kindergartners, to become proficient and know their way around a computer and printer. This will give the students greater freedom and creativity when they know they can create the world!
