This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Since teaching kindergarten, this is my students first introduction to what school is all about. I want to introduce my students to a well rounded education including literacy, writing, math, science, social studies and extracurriculars like music and art. I work in a low income school, where resources are limited and I believe that my students especially deserve the right to a positive, well rounded and equitable education. My students are kind, loving and eager to learn. Since these students are so ready to learn new things and challenge themselves, I want to ensure that their educational experience is advocated for.

My Project

As you may know kindergarten can be messy and chaotic! BUT I believe two of the most important skills taught in kindergarten are autonomy and responsibility. My students have reached an incredible level of independence and I want to support their growth. I want to add a challenging aspect to our routines and processes. Having bins for their homework folders to turn in on their own, having individual folders in math, ELA, science and social studies and having their reading leveled books in organized bins will hopefully inspire students to take control over their own learning. Let's make kindergarten as organized as possible! Another goal of mine is to make centers more fun in ELA so i added in interactive puzzles for sight words and CVC words! And the most exciting item (for the kids) is a marvelous SAND TABLE, they have been wanting it so bad that i have decided to introduce it as a tool to use for emotional learning as well as an incentive and just for play! My kids have so much fun with sensory learning including tools and toys that support that individual growth!
