This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of different Latin American backgrounds with over 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch. Our school is also one of the poorest schools in the Metro Atlanta area. 99% of our students are English Language Learners trying to learn English and the American culture as they get acclimated to the school environment. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academics. Presently, they are striving to make it to first grade.

I have 18 beautiful children in Kindergarten who come from different parts of Central and South America.

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students struggle with learning how to read and write in English.

My Project

We have run out of our basic supplies. My lessons are designed to include hands on projects. The items that I am requesting will help me execute lessons that are creative and engaging. The markers, and glue will be used on engaging art projects that align to the lessons. The laminating sheets and cardstock I will use to create hands on projects. I also use the paper to supply students with homework packets and projects to practice skills taught. The folders will be used to replace my students' worn out writing folders. In addition the paper towels and disinfectant wipes will be used to keep the spread of germs at a minimum. These items will keep my students actively engaged and will encourage them to continue working hard to achieve their goals.
