My students need a class memory book highlighting all of the experiences they have shared and all they have learned from their first year in school.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach twenty-five, kindergarten students who come from a high needs area. Kindergarten is the first time many of these students have stepped into a classroom. Kindergarten is the first step of their journey to learning and creating new friendships.
Literacy is the foundation of their education that enables them to become successful learners.
My students come in enthusiastic and eager to learn everyday in spite of the economic challenges they face. They are excited to explore new materials and new ways of learning. I am proud to be their teacher!
My Project
Kindergarten is the start to a child's education. During their first year of school, they accomplish so many different things. Students grow academically, socially, emotionally and physically. Throughout the year my students learn to read, write, go on their first field trips, celebrate school events and many other exciting things that they might not always remember.
Having each student receive a memory book at their Kindergarten graduation made by their classmates, is a way for students to remember everything they accomplished in their first year of school.
Due to the socio-economic status of where my school is located, many of these students will not be able to afford the cost of this memory book. As their teacher it would be my honor to provide them with this special gift as they graduate Kindergarten.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
