My Students

Hello. My students are beginning their academic journey in the middle of a pandemic. Most of them did not attend preschool and are beginning to learn the alphabet and phonics. Many are from diverse backgrounds and some have unique family challenges. Some have disabilities or developmental delays. Several children have fine motor delays from lack of practice writing and cutting at home. A portion of the families do not have access to grade level books, educational toys, internet or learning devices at home. Their parents and siblings are also trying to navigate school and work life balance each day.

They are a fantastic group of children attending school each day, trying the best they can to socialize and learn how to gain confidence in literacy and math.

They have positive attitudes and come to school excited to learn.

My Project

These small group center activities will help my class progress academically and socially. Centers give children an opportunity to socialize and learn through play in small groups. The math puzzles and counting activities will help strengthen their math skills.

Hands on activities also help children develop fine motor skills.

Centers with alphabet magnets, puzzles and games also give me an opportunity to have a small literacy groups at my table working on needed skills while other groups are working on centers independently.

These items will directly benefit my class and continue to support their learning despite of the challenges they have faced the last two years during the Covid 19 pandemic.
