Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Kindergarten class consists of 22 vibrant, curious, animated students representing 10 different countries. Each day they arrive with questions and ideas about the world around them.
"What day is it?", "How do you spell____.?", "Do we have gym today?" are just a few of their questions.
The main thing they all notice is there anything different in their room. They love making decorations out of crepe paper to brighten the room. We have a basic classroom with worn desks and chairs. We need a makeover!
My Project
My students have very little access to colorful, interactive, engaging materials. We need bright charts and age appropriate interactive writing boards.
The materials requested will allow my students to see words, pictures and writing in a welcoming engaging classroom.
Having many different cultures, students need various entry points of looking at letters, words, and sentences to make connections.
When I teach a lesson my students will be able to look, listen, and interact with me by using all the various charts, boards, and writing materials. To see them working on their own and me as an observer would be like seeing a rainbow for the first time!
