This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a Title I elementary school. I am a dual language teacher in a dual immersion (one-way) program. I can have up to 62 kids. Our district is currently planning on a full return to school for the 2021-22 school year.

We have a great community where we continually encourage being bilingual.

I was teaching first grade and will be going back to Kindergarten.

My Project

I am updating my classroom library. The books that I have picked have a variety of everything from the first day of kindergarten, to friends, family, and nature. I will read these books throughout the school year. Which will be followed through with class projects and discussions.

Starting the love for books in Kindergarten encourages the students to use their imagination.

This will help them understand that there is no limit to what they wish to do. As they fall in love with the stories they will be encouraged to read them on their own. Which will help the students develop their reading abilities.
