This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach kindergarten in an inner-city school in Flint, Michigan, where 100% of our students qualify for free lunch. The majority of our students come to us below grade level and have little academic support at home due to the life circumstances of their families.
My students are eager to learn, but need a lot of additional support in all subject areas, in order for them to be successful in their future endeavors.
Your donations to our projects help us to make that happen for the students that we are blessed to serve.
My Project
I would love for my students to have more opportunities and access to centers during small group instruction time. In order to create more centers for my students I we are in need of dry erase erasers, dry erase paper rolls, sand timers, pencils, and post it notes. We will use these items in all areas of instruction including math, reading, and writing.
The addition of these items into our classroom will help our students to be more engaged with learning as well as to help them to meet or even exceed their learning goals.
These items will also give our students more opportunities to participate in hand on learning.
