Kindergarten Kids Learn and Grow Together At Carpet Time

Help me give my students a classroom carpet, bulletin boards, and a dry erase board for them to be able to have a more comfortable and effective learning environment for our Carpet Time.

My Project

Kindergarten students are at an amazing age! They learn best through visuals, movement, songs, games, and collaborating with each other. This is why Carpet Time is such an essential part of their daily routine and schedule. Carpet Time provides them with the environment needed to learn many subjects and skills through song, dance, and movement whether it be sight words, verbs, months of the year, or counting to one hundred.

Carpet Time also provides my Kindergarten kids with more opportunities to grow closer as a class family as they discuss important topics and work on being a good citizen through listening to each other, raising their hands, and waiting their turn.

These are some of the many reasons that I think make Carpet Time so essential.

One of the items that our class will need to make this time more effective would be a large classroom carpet. This carpet would provide each of my students with their own space on the carpet to provide plenty of room to move around as they dance about verbs, exercise as they count to one hundred, and collaborate together about the topics being taught. It would also provide them more comfortable seating since they would be able to be on the carpet, rather than the hard floor.

The large bulletin boards would be very beneficial for our Carpet Time as it would provide a space to display calendar, weather, number charts, and various math skills. This would definitely help my students to visually see and learn certain skills as they are clearly posted and displayed.

The large rolling dry erase whiteboard would help in teaching my students skills in all subject areas during our Carpet Time. Since it is on wheels, it could also be used in small groups.
