Young minds learn best through hands-on activities and independent practice. We need some basic classroom supplies to make the standard Kindergarten curriculum more engaging and more accessible for every learner. My students are facing multiple barriers to accessing this instruction, including socioeconomic status, home language barriers, and special education classifications.
My Kindergarten bilingual class is made up of both students that were born in the United States and students born in Central America, all with limited English proficiency.
They are excited to learn every day and so willing to practice their newly acquired language skills!
Please help supply my Kindergartners with the tools and supplies they need to supplement our workbook and textbook curriculum. We have two empty easels begging for young painters to step up!
We need fresh paint and cups so we can explore the seasons and paint fall trees, a snowy day, and a spring rainfall.
We need construction paper to help us learn about American holidays and celebrations. Incorporating art into our day makes us happy and attentive, but also provides a low risk environment for newcomers with limited English to participate. Artwork is also a safe outlet for students experiencing trauma and insecure home situations. We are so excited to start creating new masterpieces!
