My Students

My classroom is very diverse. In addition to having a range of abilities, many families are new to the United States (Laos, Burma, Sudan, Mexico) and are beginning to learn the English Language. Through sensory play, social interaction with peers, and hands-on learning opportunities I am thrilled to see how their speaking, listening and vocabulary abilities develop. I am always looking for new and fun ways to encourage speaking and listening in my classroom and am always amazed at the wonderful progress my students make.

My Project

Tag board is an essential classroom supply for many of the projects I plan for my students throughout the school year. Because it is heavier than typical construction paper, my students are able to use it with a variety of mediums such as watercolors and tempera paint.

When my students engage in art, it touches on a variety of learning modalities.

Art peaks curiosity, experimentation and discussion among peers and teachers. Art boosts self esteem, develops eye-hand coordination and critical thinking.

Having an adequate supply of tag board, ensures that my students will be able to engage in a variety of art activities throughout the school year.
