This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Due to the joy of being able to parent 3 lovely girls I previously left my teaching career. Now I pursue another chapter in my life of going back to revive my teaching career.
I have been given a great teaching opportunity for a Kindergarten class in a neighborhood that most children are either in shelters or underprivileged.
The classroom I have been given doesn't have many center materials or equipment needed to enhance the students' learning and their ability to learn to read and write. My plans are to transform this classroom from an ideal classroom into a reality. This will design a creative space that will promote student creativity.
My Project
I am trying to create centers that are fun, exciting, and meets the needs of my different leveled students. The alphabet and phonemic awareness computer games will help those students who don't recognize their letters or sounds. The name tags will be use to display on each students sight words that they need to learn in order to read.
The book pouches will be used to place each child's leveled books in order for them to travel back in forth from home to school.
The center kits such as Simple Sentence, Sight Words, Letter Recognition are to afford the opportunity for my different levels to have activities in their reading weakness.
Listen Read and Rhymes are CD that children can hear in our listening center that will reinforce the love of reading and rhyming words. The ink pads are to replace any old pad that we use in the alphabet stamper station. Giving lower income students access to these materials will allow them to strengthen their reading skills.
