I am a kindergarten teacher at a foreign language immersion school. I am privileged to work with forty-four amazing children who are eager to learn and use any learning tools they are given. My kindergarteners will be learning and growing rapidly this school year. Students at this age are curious and love to explore. Through this curiosity, it is best practice to meet the students’ needs in a variety of ways. The rekenrek is an amazing math tool, proven to increase student’s conceptual understanding of numbers.
My Project
Please help provide my students with a fun and engaging math manipulative such as a rekenrek.
This math tool will provide opportunities for my students to be able to increase their understanding of number sense.
The rekenreks will help give my students the opportunities for questioning how numbers work and various ways for composing and decomposing numbers.
My kindergarteners will become amazing critical thinking mathematicians by learning how to break numbers apart through the use of a rekenrek. This math manipulative will make a tremendous impact and difference in my students, by helping set a strong conceptual understanding of number sense.
