Kindergarten Chefs Explore With Apples

My Project

Every fall, our kindergarten students explore apples in various ways. It is one of the most exciting units to start the school year! Apples are a part of our math, science and reading stations! We read about apples, learn how they grow, learn about the different varieties, taste test, graph, compare and then....explore in the kindergarten kitchen!

Learning what foods include apples and reading new recipes gets the students really excited to try them out.

We are limited to what we can make in our classroom without an actual kitchen. It usually involves bringing our own crockpots, cookware and utensils from home. Having our own crockpot at school will allow us to create more recipes with ease. Peeling apples will be an exciting experience to watch as we demonstrate in the classroom with our new peeler.

My goal for this project is to bring new and exciting tools to expand our apple unit that we are excited to present every fall. Our students are lucky to live in an area where we can see first-hand how apples grow and even, pick them for themselves. Bringing fresh food and recipes to our young learners is such a special experience!
