Kindergarten is such an exciting group of mixed interests, abilities, and goals. Some of my students are learning to read, write, and count, while some of their classmates are learning to imitate sounds or hold a pencil. Our group loves to play outside, learn new games, and groove to fun music.
We are a rural farming community that does not have many opportunities.
I teach in a wing of five kindergartens, three general education and two developmental. As my students make gains in my classroom, they begin to try small chunks of the day with their typically developing peers. My classroom is about building skills to get included. The work we do in this classroom is building relationships, staying with the group, following directions, and accessing general education content in different ways. We celebrate little wins together each day.
My Project
My students are provided instruction in a variety of ways - one-on-one, small group, and whole group settings. The carpet and coordinated seating will provide an excellent space for learning in a whole group instructional setting, specifically with our new math curriculum and calendar time.
Young learners need flexible learning spaces and this carpet and coordinated seating provides an additional space for whole group instruction that is comfortable and spacious.
My students will also use the carpet as a learning space when they are working individually and need their own, defined learning space. The seating will also provide additional flexible seating options.
