it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am requesting help with purchasing a new classroom carpet for my kindergarten students. We currently have an older hand-me-down rug, which is in terrible condition. Our classroom carpet is the center point of our classroom. My students are on the carpet more than they are in their seats. My classroom comprises a diverse group of students with varying learning needs. The flexible seating that a sectioned carpet provides will help support all of my students, including those with attention difficulties or physical restrictions. It provides a cozy and comfortable learning area for my students. From the carpet, my students have a perfect view to our large Viewsonic monitor and of any modeling I do on our whiteboard or projector. My students engage in singing, reading, and group/partner-sharing activities on the carpet. The carpet helps with behavioral management as well. The carpet ensures that my students are close to instruction, paying attention, and have limited distractions. Since my students have their own assigned spots on the carpet, they have the visual support that they need as they continue to learn about giving one another personal space. I also plan to continue to use the color-coded spots as activity and dismissal signals.
My students are a sweet group who love carpet time learning.
When I'm reading aloud a book, I'm on my comfy stool with my students right in front of me on the carpet listening attentively. When my students are playing games or doing partner work, they all gravitate to the rug because it's comfy and soft. I love that our carpet creates a warm and welcoming learning environment for my students and a sense of belonging. It's a place where we make connections and build relationships. I appreciate your consideration.
