My Students

My students live in a small, rural community where literacy rich environments and experiences are extremely limited. Our school is a Title I school where a large percentage of our students receive free breakfast and lunch, yet, they come to school every day with huge smiles on their precious little faces ready to learn, play, and have fun. That's what's important to me, that they have fun while they learn. That's what makes a child become a life-long learner. And that's what makes all of this hard work worthwhile.

My Project

This classroom carpet will serve my students by providing a soft, clean place for them land every morning. It will be the place where they greet their friends and listen and tell about each other's lives. It will also provide a place for my students to curl up or stretch out with a good book during reading time.

This classroom carpet will serve as meeting place for collaborating about books, projects, and knowledge.

It will be the heart of the classroom where all the important stuff happens. My kids need a place to read alone, to buddy read, to talk about reading, and to listen to reading. Kindergartners love to live their life on the floor and this rug will allow them space to do just that! Please help us!
