This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a small school district in a small town called Coalinga. Most of my students come to me with no preschool experience. My students are curious, energetic, playful and full of excitement for learning. In our district we have a $200 per year budget. I’m teaching kindergarten for the first time even though I’m a 24 year teacher. The kindergarten classroom requires a lot of items for play. Our technology is very old and most of it isn’t working to full capacity. Since we have a small budget to work with I am constantly spending money out of my own pocket.
My Project
Kindergarten students are in need of many lessons that teach them how to use their fine motor schools. The items we are in need of will supply them with the opportunity to use fine motor skills such as coloring, cutting and pasting. My students complete an art activity every Friday and we don’t have enough art supplies to complete projects. Kindergarten should be fun and exciting. There is a time and a place for everything. My desire is to make art fun yet educational. We have a letter of the week that we focus on and use many art supplies for that. Your donation is greatly appreciated.
