My students need a library and a relaxing area to read. I have a big classroom and I have been wanting to create a fun little reading area for my students, but I have not had the money.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in Arizona where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many of my students receive backpack food for the weekend, and our school also runs a food pantry for our families.
Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best every single day.
They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day. They have been SO excited that they can READ! It is such an accomplishment for them and I would love to encourage this by creating a reading nook in my classroom!
My Project
My kindergarten students are so excited that they can read! They are reading more and more every day! It is so inspiring to watch their minds grow and develop. My classroom has no reading area. My students keep their books in their book boxes and read at their table spots.
When I was in school, I remember my teacher drawing names and letting those first few students sit in the "reading nook" during reading time.
It was one of the most special things in class. I have been trying to get this going in my classroom. I would use the rug and pillows to make it relaxing and comfortable. I would then set up the book shelves that will be at their level and I would use the echo to set some quiet music up by the reading nook.
