Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
After eight years of teaching in 3rd and 5th grade, I'm going back to teach Kindergarten for the 24-25 school year! I taught Kinder many years ago, and am excited to be going back! However, when I left Kinder before, I left behind most of my resources and hands on learning materials. Funding this project will allow me to give whole and small group practice to my young learners with hands on materials and resources.
Early phonics and literacy skills are so important for reading and writing development in Kindergarten.
Phonics instruction teaches young learners to recognize the sounds that make up words, patterns of spelling, and begin building sentences. Building these skills early leads to successful readers and writers as they move through the lower grades of elementary school!
Having hands-on resources and materials allows for students to match letters and sounds, build and write cvc, cvce, ccvc, and cvcc words, and write sentences! Having small group learning stations that are durable is important too! Laminating materials for stations allows for them to be used many times over with dry erase markers! Teachers Pay Teachers has many great resources to help students practice their reading and writing skills to help make them successful! Utilizing the items in this project will allow for practice of the skills that will help lead to mastery!
