Kinder Literacy Curriculum Books

My students need books to go with lessons to improve literacy including Tap the Magic Tree, A Tree for all Seasons, and Each Kindness. These books will build many skills.

My Students

My students love to learn, especially when presented with interesting words and pictures. It is my desire to encourage a love of books inside and outside my classroom. Vocabulary and comprehension can be fun! "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world" -Nelson Mandela

My students come from a low socio-economic background.

Every one of them receives free breakfast, lunch and some even get dinner at school. My school is one that partners with the community to get the children what they need. My children, despite their background, show an enthusiasm for learning when presented with the right materials. Education is not often a priority in the families with which I work, but this is a cycle I hope to one day change. Seeing the excitement in their faces when they use a new (big) word they've learned through literature is inspiring.

My Project

Interactive read-alouds encourage so many positive skills in kindergarten such as: the ability to understand the purpose of reading, oral comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, comparing texts (fiction to nonfiction), and so many more. Repeated readings of these stories encourages a deeper understanding and more thoughtful questions from the students. Reading nonfiction in connection with related fiction materials allows students to see a variety of texts that are available to them.

I've paired these books(Tap the Magic Tree, A Tree for all Seasons, and Each Kindness) to go with lessons to improve literacy.

These books will build many skills and will allow students to dig deeper into a topic/theme. Students will be highly engaged in the curriculum and in the books themselves, fostering a love a learning and of literature.
