Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school was established in 1928 and has been serving a small community for many generations. It is a Title I school where a lot of my students qualify for the reduced price or free lunch program. Many students come from diverse cultural backgrounds. There are 16 different languages spoken at my school. Most are English language learners, speaking English as their second language.

My 5-year-old Kindergarten students usually come into Kindergarten not knowing much, but it's amazing to watch them learn and grow over the school year.

Many students say they are having so much fun that they want to come to school even on weekends.

My Project

This Kinder Literacy curriculum was made by a Kindergarten Teacher and has been used by hundreds of other Kindergarten teachers. It promotes kids talking with real life connections, emphasizes on vocabulary and writing. It also includes phonemic awareness, craft, skill check, and follow up practice sheets.

I've started using this wonderful program, but the problem is I do not have all the books used in this program.

I've tried finding books on YouTube and had the kids listen to the stories using the read aloud videos, but it's hard to go back to the stories when we want to revisit the story, page by page to learn the new vocabulary. The books listed on this project will allow my students to go back to the stories to discuss, retell, and do writings based on them.
