Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Help us make our dramatic play area awesome! We have a kid size kitchen but we do not have play food sets and kitchen tools to inspire kids to creatively play!
Our students live in a high poverty area.
Over 90% of my class receives free or reduced breakfast and lunch. Over 90% of the students in my class are also second language learners. Our school site actively participates in a Gang Reduction and Intervention Program. Despite these challenges, they are also bright, happy students who love coming to school and are eager to learn! Our classroom is a safe place for them to create, grow and learn!
My Project
Pretend play food and kitchen sets will create a fun and engaging dramatic play area! Students will be able to interact with each other- building their language inventories as well as their cooperative skills! Integrating performing arts through dramatic play into our language arts units on friends and families will engage our students and increase their learning! When students role play they are questioning, evaluating and synthesizing their learning!
Even though our students live in a high poverty area, they deserve a rich, engaging and fun learning environment!
