This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My kindergartners are a group of fun and playful learners who love to learn new things. Many of the students that I serve come from low income households on the south side of Chicago. Our students deserve to have the necessary supplies allow them an opportunity to continue to learn and grow. They are also learning how to be a student from the comfort of their own homes. With school looking a little different than usual, my kinders will not have access to all the resources and manipulatives that the classroom has to offer.
This kit will allow our new learners to stay actively engaged during small group and whole group lessons.
The play-doh, pencils, crayons, whiteboards, markers, and wikki sticks will appeal to the many different kinds of learners that will begin their kindergarten journey with me.
My students always enjoy using manipulatives or any fun item that contributes to their growth.
Each kindergarten student will be provided with all these manipulatives and supplies to actively engage and work at their own pace. I will be able to assess students' learning from the answers on their whiteboards, flashcards, as well as through the counters that they display on their ten frames. Although they will not physically be in the classroom, it is critical that each child has what they need to learn. This project will really help my kinders enhance their academic skills in a fun and engaging way right at home.
This tool kit will allow each of my students an opportunity to stay engaged and interact with me during their remote learning experience.
These fun and engaging learning tools like the whiteboards, wikki sticks, flashcards, and play-doh will be used daily in small groups, one on one with students in addition to whole group lessons. The placemats will be used for playdoh and wikki sticks. The journals for literacy, writing, and math help keep students organized and also track their growth.
The gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers will allow me to purchase some interactive and colorful learning materials to display for students during small group instruction. The headphones will lessen the distractions in the background so students will remain focused.
