This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Kindergarten is such a special grade, it is some students for introduction to school and classroom learning. I want to make their first year of elementary amazing and set up their foundation for being lifelong learners. In order to do this I must keep learning fun and engaging. I work at a Title one school in Texas were most of the students are on our free/reduced lunch plan. Many students face hardships and still come to school with a smile on their face, ready to learn.

My Project

My students need a classroom set of a weekly reader to help investigate the world around them. Scholastic weekly readers are great to engage students reading. It sparks their curiosity about the world around us. Children are born natural investigators, weekly readers continue letting kids use the skills they are born with. With weekly readers students will gain a broader vocabulary, develop comprehension skills, and become better readers. Students in low income areas often don't know about the world around them. They are limited to their city. These weekly readers will open up a whole new world. The possibility of growth is endless. This readers my spark a lifelong interest of investigation, changing our world for the better.
