This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine being in a classroom with 19 other students and the teacher is trying to show you a video, pictures or a lesson through the small screen of a computer monitor. Not easy, right? Well, this is the challenge that my students face in my classroom.
My Kinder students are a wonderful group of five and six year old children that love to learn and explore new things.
Our school is located in a very poor area of our district. My students come from low income families that concentrate in surviving. They leave the enrichment experiences up to our schools. The little money that our school provides us at the beginning of the year is used to buy consumables. I am asking for your help to buy my classroom an Apple iPad to enrich my lessons.
My Project
Buying a sophisticated computer for my class will never happen without your help. An Apple iPad is an amazing tool that can provide endless learning opportunities for my students. With your help, I plan to attach the iPad to a projector that will allow all of my students to view the material on the wall. Apple also provides many wonderful different applications that will help me extend lessons in science, math, history and reading during whole group instruction. I will also be able to project on-line books during storytime. Students will also be learning how to use the computer and how to access the applications independently. I am so excited about this project and I know that my students will be ecstatic as well.
Every morning when I walk into my classroom and I see my students' faces and I hear their stories, sometimes good, sometimes bad, I wish I could do more for them.
Preparing for the day's lesson can be a frustrating task when the resources are not available. We all know that technology is a fundamental tool for learning. The iPad will be a great instructional tool for my 20 students. With it they will be able to experience technological advances now. Thank you in advance for your donations.
