My Students

This year I have an awesome group of curious Kindergartners who love to learn new things! As a class, we believe in collaborating to achieve success. Their enthusiasm and energy while learning is contagious! They are very polite, hard-working, and focused.

My students have a growth mindset and believe that with grit, perseverance, and confidence they can accomplish any of their learning goals.

We believe in working smart and choosing the most efficient tools to help us work towards our objectives.

My Project

I am a first year kindergarten teacher looking to build up a supply of manipulatives and hands-on activities to enhance learning. The more fun the students have while learning the more they retain. In kindergarten it is important to target as many of the senses while learning as possible incorporating things that involve fine and gross motor skills, taste, sound, and visually appealing stimuli. These supplies will help me address some of the many different learning styles of the students in my class. My students are always so excited to learn when we have fun supplies.

Many of the items are to be used to help students learn basic letters and sounds such as the letter tiles and organizers, POP for letters, the vowel owls sorting kit, and the alphabet soup sorters.

Some of the tools will be used to help students spell words in a more hands-on way such as the alphabet linking letters, the magnetic wands, and the word building cubes for early reading. The Pete the Cat literacy bag will engage students in early reading. The sentence building kit will engage students in sentence organization skills. While rhyming seems like something that comes naturally, many students struggle with rhyming words and having the rhyming fun-to-know puzzle would help increase student success of achieving this skill. Lastly, our classroom needs a calendar as students need to understand months of the year, days of the week, and the sequence of days. This calendar will also help us with our goal of learning numbers to 100. I look forward to using these supplies to teach students the skills they need to succeed in a fun and engaging way.
