Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Young children need lots of hands-on experience in order to learn and understand the basic skills in all subject areas.

My students come from mainly poor neighborhood.

I teach at a Title 1 school in California, 62-64% of the students get free or reduced meals. We are also a PHOBAO school (Predominantly Hispanic, Black, Asian and Other) The students don't have much at home to reinforce the skills learned at school.

My Project

With the Take-Home Backpacks, my kindergarten students will be able to learn the skills necessary in order to go on to first grade successfully. They will be learning to tie their shoes, learn about shapes and sizes, learn to count, add and subtract, the letters and sounds, and also how to write.

It would be great to see my students happy faces when they actually get to take a backpack home to share with their families.

They'll love homework! They will be learning the most important basic skills in life in Kindergarten!
