Kiln Slumped Glass

My students need an Advanced Glass Slumping Kit, a Glass Fusing Frit package so they can paint designs onto their slumped plates, and fusible small glass squares and circles to further enhance their designs.

I teach visual arts to grades 9-12 with a high percentage of special needs students as well as greater than 50% percent free lunch.

My students need the basic materials to begin learning how to work with slumping glass in a kiln. I attended a workshop this summer at the Kansas City art Institute with the expressed purpose of being able to learn about this exciting art form and bring it back to my classroom. I felt that with my wide variety of students it allowed them the opportunity to create an object of beauty using pattern, line, shape, and color. We have no supplies so are really hoping for some help with this project.

We need the basic class kit to start off with because it includes basically everything the students would need to create their own glass. We would use the frit pack to actually draw on the glass(it is ground up glass w/ pigment) and the fusible glass to add additional shapes and colors to the students artwork.

Your help funding this project will give my students the opportunity to create works of art using a medium that most of them know little about or have/will the opportunity to work with again. This is a relatively forgiving art form that enables the students to create beautiful pieces of functional art.
