My Project

Ceramics would be a great addition to the regular and talented art curriculums. Our students love to work with clay! Currently, we have to use air dry clay, which the students enjoy using, but it does not withstand the test of time like ceramic clay does. I would love to give our students the opportunity to work with ceramic clay, learn the stages of the drying and firing processes, and glazing the final product. Students of all abilities can create amazing clay pieces. If we are able to get a kiln, every grade level will get to create at least one clay piece in art class. Students can learn to handbuild, coil build, work with slabs, and possibly throw on the wheel.
