This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students live in a poverty-stricken, urban neighborhood. Many come from broken and unstable homes. They attend a Title I school and are eligible for free lunch.

Our school's population is made up of African-American, Latinx, and foreign students, mostly African, Vietnamese, and Kurdish students.

Many of them are learning English as a second language. It is important for them to be able to express themselves through their art. My students love art! They thrive in an artistic environment. They need opportunities to show how creative they can be.

My Project

I desperately need cleaning supplies! Before these supplies will be used for cleaning, they will serve as props for the play "Annie". We need them during the scene when the children are cleaning.

My students love to paint, use clay, cut paper, and work with other supplies that mess up the art room.

I am constantly cleaning spills with paper towels. Several times a day, I have to sweep up scrap papers, glitter, etc. with a broom held together with duct tape. I don't have a dustpan, a mop, or any scrub brushes to clean tough stains off the tables.

Our custodians work very hard to keep our building clean. We only have two in a building that really needs three. I can share these supplies with other teachers so that we can keep our rooms clean. Everyone will appreciate it.
