My Project

I plan to use these books to teach literary elements at the 6th grade level. These books will be used as a class read-aloud so that we can learn together about an event in Oklahoma history. We will be using journals to write down our thoughts. We will use maps to locate where these Indians lived in relation to our own town.

I want my students to have the opportunity to learn about an event from our past that happened right here in Oklahoma.

This book was written and has now been turned into a movie that was also filmed right here in Oklahoma. I want my students to understand how this history has affected our state. There will be many opportunities to learn life lessons from reading this book.
