I plan to use this book as a class read-aloud. We will delve into the history of the Osage Indians and how they were treated right here in Oklahoma. I feel it is important for students to understand and learn from the past. This book will teach us some history from our own backyard. This event in history happened in a town very near us. The adult version of this book was made into a movie and filmed in that same town near us. I think the students will enjoy reading about the Osage Indians from our very own area. Because we will read it together, it will give us an opportunity to discuss what happened and also do mini-research projects to learn more about this time in history.
