My Project
My ecology classes did so much work last year restarting our campus garden, improving some of the garden beds and putting in an irrigation system . . . but they were not very excited about picking up litter until they got to use trash grabbers on a field trip.
All of a sudden picking up litter was fun (and not gross!).
I want to get 2 sets of trash grabbers in different colors for the classes to work in teams. Then the team that collects the most trash will get to choose the ice cream we make the next day! I've also included a wagon and some trenching shovels to make our next irrigation system installation a little easier and some poppy and milkweed seeds to grow more natives on our campus. My students will love these hands-on activities while they learn practical skills, build teamwork and see their work improving our campus.
