My Students

I have been teaching first grade for 13 years.I work in a general education classroom. The class includes some learning disabled children,emotionally disturbed children, and some children just learning English. Six and seven year olds are inquisitive, and have an unmatched joy for learning. They can also be very wiggly. Yet we expect them to sit and listen for longer periods of time every year. Some students work best in a group, and some are more attentive without the distraction of others.

My Project

Movement helps kids focus, and promotes learning. Ball seats allow for movement and balance reducing restlessness and improving focus. Wobble seats also allow for movement. Wobble cushions also allow for movement and stimulation.These can be used on the floor ,or in the seat of conventional chairs The seating that I have chosen will provide stimulation and choice in seating. This means that all students will be able to find a seat that works best for them, and the class will have be more focused, and have an increase in their success in learning! I believe the children will also be happier.
