My Students
My classroom is centered around differentiated learning to help meet all of my students' individual needs. Each child participates in hands-on learning to become a creative thinker. I promote a growth mindset to allow my students to gain confidence in themselves and develop more independence. I encourage involvement from my parents, administrators, and community in our environment.
I believe that students learn and lead by example and that it takes our whole village to help our children to grow into their full potential.
All students are learners, and they each have their unique needs that need to be met. Children learn the best when they are interested and engaged in the classroom. My students are a big part of all of our futures. They are the best investment that you can be a part of in this very moment. Thank you for investing and believing in us!
My Project
I am asking for your help to purchase wobble seats to incorporate into my kindergarten classroom. My goal for my students is that each one of them reach their potential and develop a love for learning. This is a challenge since every child has a different learning style and pace at which he or she learns. Each student is unique and capable of both learning and succeeding. The wobble seats will help the ones that need it by giving them a tool to use so that they can focus on their tasks in front of them. I have watched many of my kinders move around in their seats so much that they have fallen out of them. They are also so distracted moving around that they cannot maintain focus on learning the skills that they need to be successful.
This year I have several students who have been diagnosed as having ADHD, Autism, and Sensory processing disorders.
These students in particular often struggle in mainstream classrooms due to the intense schedule, frequency of testing, and high expectations of sitting for extremely long periods of time.
The wobble seats that I am asking for will make a huge difference in my classroom. Students are usually expected to sit in their uncomfortable chairs at their tables for more than 5-6 hours each school day. During instruction and work time, students that need to wiggle and use a wobble seat would benefit from using a wobble chairs at their table. Wobble chairs are specially designed to support students with ADHD, ADD, Autism, Sensory Issues, and many other special needs because they provide a physical challenge and opportunity to release energy while simultaneously working on the skills they are learning.
