This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Being a Special Education Teacher in the inner-city, my students struggle with everyday life. All my students have a story and deal with issues kids shouldn't have to deal with. Still, they come to school and try their best, which is what makes my students so special.
All my students are unique, but one thing they all have in common is their love for reading.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, my students lack the resources and materials to explore their creativity through books, materials, and supplies. My students need resources and materials to adjust to their new norm of remote learning.
My Project
I teach in an inner-city school located in the Bronx, NY. All my students have a story and deal with issues kids shouldn't have to deal with. Still, they used to come to school every day and try their best. However, due to COVID-19, my students are now dealing with the struggles of not being with their friends and teachers and learning through a computer.
The following materials will allow students access to books at home, on their grade level.
Most of my students' only access to books was at school. These materials will give students access to these books and help them practice their reading while they are learning remotely. These materials will allow students to continue to grow their love for reading.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
