This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What I love about teaching students is their desire to learn more and specifically their desire to learn more when learning is hands on. The specific items in this project will help my students learn their way around a kitchen and transform their current rationale that eating well, and eating healthy is not outside the privy of their own lens, their own homes, and their own communities. My students in particular dive into nutrition on a level that is more than just knowing the basics of the food plate. Teaching nutrition, during school and in an after school program, allows for my students to really understand their way around the kitchen, understand the various food partners and ultimately how that knowledge can not only open up future job opportunities for them but in many cases reveal a passion for cooking and cooking in a sustainable healthy way.
