My Students

My students are from rural Appalachia. We are a Title 1, low income school. Many of my students are raised by someone other than mom and dad. Most of my students have no experience in the kitchen or making anything other than prepackaged food.

Teaching my students the necessities in the kitchen will not only help them now, but for the rest of their lives.

My Project

I teach high school CTE classes and I have three small kitchens in my classroom. I just recently took this position and I am in need of some supplies. I need things like measuring cups, towels, and pans. These are the very basic necessities for teaching someone to cook. Many of my students are stepping into the kitchen for the first time to cook by themselves in my room.

I am teaching my students how to cook basic meals and simple life skills that aren't taught at home anymore.

Help me, help our future generation by showing them how to cook for themselves.
