About My Students
In our STEAM class, Aize has the passion and dedication to create this cookbook to inspire others. She is focused on helping kids have the upbringing that she had when she was little. She wants to pass on her enthusiasm and love of cooking to younger students. Aize hopes to empower kids to make smart and fun choices when it comes to their meals and meal preparation. She is on her way, she just needs your help making it happen!
Through the creation of this project, Aize is reaching out to students that have not had the cooking education she learned from her mother. She is empowering other kids to think about what they are putting into their bodies and explore nutritious recipes. Creativity, design, photography, and simple math are used in her cookbook. Within the NGSS standards, Aize is using the engineering design process to find a method to reach younger kids about their nutrition and make cooking for themselves fun! This project can be a stepping stone for other students to collaborate and join in to make a second edition with their own recipes!
In Their Own Words
I love to cook so I decided to make a book for kids who don't know how to cook. My book involves recipes, measurement instructions, and an adult supervision contract. I decided to make this book because some people don't get a good cooking education just like I did. The reason I am doing this is to share the healthy recipes and techniques my parents and family have provided me. This cookbook is different from other cookbooks is that other cook books have age limits. This cookbook will be for all ages to learn how to make healthy and nutritious meals!
My teacher and I will work together using the camera and requested cooking supplies (sauce, baking soda, etc.) so I can make this cookbook for those kids who don't have the opportunity to have a good cooking education. We will teach kids how to follow a recipe, perform the recipe, and present the recipe. I will also teach kids how to do proper measurements. In my cookbook, I will provide an explanation of common kitchen appliances and how they work.
This project is important to me because I really want to help younger kids who do not know how to cook. This project is also important because I want to inspire other kids to cook. I hope that they spread the word in helping educate other students about making healthy choices and creating their own meals!
