In our classroom, we work hard to accept every single learner for exactly who they are. That means respecting each student's individual needs and preferences for how he/she works and learns best. Help us to gain more seating options to respect all of our incredible learners.
My students are an incredible bunch of fifth graders who are eager to learn.
They come to school each day ready to learn and ready to make this world a better place. Our school is a place where students know they are loved and cared for and they know that the work that we do will be meaningful and purposeful. Our learning community is one in which all learners are respected and are encouraged to be honest about their strengths and to be honest about what they need in order to do their best. Our classroom is a place where we laugh as we learn and where everyone feels good about who they are. Students feel safe to ask for what they need and they feel safe to take the learning risks that are needed in order for them to grow.
My Project
In our classroom, students are empowered so that they feel in control of their learning. They know that in our classroom, they have the power to make the choices that work best for them. They can choose where they work, they can choose how they share their voices with the class and with the world and they can choose how they sit in order to do the important work they have to do. As my students learn to take more control over their learning, they are learning to also make the choices that will allow them to do their best. That means knowing what they need and knowing what seating options will meet those needs. These materials will provide more options for my students to choose from in order to sit in a way that allows them to work in a way that honors who they are. Children are meant to move and these seating options will allow my students to do just that.
When students walk through the door of our classroom, I want them to know that they will find a place that is set up with them in mind.
Having a variety of seating options that meet the needs of my students will make a difference in the way they walk through that door. They will come into a room that shows them that I know who they are, I know what they need and I will do all I can to provide them with the things they need. These seating options will show them just how much I value them.
